CONSPIRACY AGAINST PAKISTAN
Syed Muhammad Waqas
Destruction of state departments, such as decimation of Railways, ruining of Wapda, high attrition of PIA, failure of Police and other law enforcing agencies, slumber of Army, experimentation of Education Department, anarchy in Bureaucracy, vis-à-vis chaos in the state structure, frail foreign policy, wrestling of state-pillars, sovereignty violation, secret foreign intrusion, India factor, crippled judicial system, ineffective parliament, death of industry, energy crisis, devaluation of currency, high stagflation, widening economic gap between upper and lower classes, religious fundamentalism, sectarian militancy, ethnic conflicts, linguistic issues, provincial disputes, liberation movements, extensive intellectual spill out, migration of youth, yellow journalism, high crime rate, social insecurity, loss of identity, growing drug-addiction, terrorism, corruption, smuggling, hyperinflation, and a similar list in the same fashion remains the prime harvest of Pakistan until 2012. Beyond a shadow of doubt, Pakistan is the most unwelcomed country on every international platform including UNO today. If the patriotic passion allows for a moment to state the fact, the evidence is strong enough to declare Pakistan an utter "failure" in the modern state system-a belated fulfillment of Nehru's prediction.
There appears a highly organized, massive conspiracy against the very existence of Pakistan. Those on the stage are mere puppets with the actual hand hidden behind many thick curtains. Probably Nature itself has conspired against Pakistan, for the country never recovered from ever-multiplying crises. Therefore, a superstitious brain can justly admit it as divine scourge. A rational mind will, however, put the blame on something else, saying, this pervasive conspiracy originates from our own human surroundings. As a matter of fact, the nuclear Pakistan is an eye-prick to a number of influential international actors. After all, why would anyone desire a beggar with a nuclear bomb in his other hand? They would certainly desire no such beggars anymore.
If our Great Quaid had envisaged all this during his 7-year struggle for a separate homeland, he would not have insisted upon the creation of Pakistan and would have probably accepted the status of British Dominion. He did envisage some mismanagement, leadership flaws, regional disputes etc; however, what he envisaged was far less in scale and magnitude than what actually transpired in the national history of this country.
This whole situation may be compressed in a single Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which gives a wise commentary in nutshell on what causes all this and what the ultimate is likely to be.
"A Bedouin asked the Apostle of Allah: "When would the Hour (Doomsday) take place?" The Apostle of Allah replied: "When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour." The Bedouin said, "How will that be lost?" The Apostle of Allah said: "When the power or authority comes in the hands of unfit persons, then wait for the Hour." (Al-Bukhaari, Chapter: Knowledge, Hadith No. 56)
The mention of "Hour" in this Prophetic Saying is a symbolic reference for our case to the national rupture and retribution. Present circumstances evidently lead to a two-pronged, predictable retribution: bloody revolution and dismemberment. At least one is unavoidable and the second potentially the eventual. History witnesses that revolutions always get birth in the echelons of the army. This is a natural consequence of the incidence when authority passes on in the hands of the "unfit". However, against what parameters can we declare any ruling individuals "unfit" when objectivity is lost and every political leader projects his own standard and philosophy? Indeed this parameter is the discipline of political science when it comes to theory and the model of developed Western states when it has to do with the practice. The "unfit" rulers are to blame only in partial for the fate of the country, for they control little. They are to be convicted of being "accomplice". A Punjabi proverb perfectly explains the ineligibility-cum-hypocrisy of the power-holders, namely:
"Even the guard dog is an accomplice of the thieves."
