Current Projects of Bab-ul-Ilm Research Foundation (Pakistan)We are publishing books and booklets on all important areas of religious research. Our main area of focus is Semitic Religions (Islam, Christianity & Judaism) and the commonalities found in them. BIRF introduces an "inclusive" approach to outreach people physically as well as through literature to establish the fact that no religion preaches hatred and radicalism. The printing and publishing work has been extremely expensive over the years in Pakistan and it remained an impossible task for quite some time due to financial issues. However, the printing and publishing work immediately began after we were sponsored by some generous, God-fearing individuals. Moreover, there are several other volunteers who extend their help in one way or the other to keep the wheel moving.
Our booklets are available at "Bab-ul-Ilm Institute of Languages, Computer & Natural Sciences (Bilcans Institute)", King Road, Sohawa, Mandi Bahauddin (Pakistan). Visitors are sometimes offered free materials when it so fits. Some materials, such as religious literature, articles & essays are also available online. Given its approach of collectivism, BIRF has formulated a congregation of enlightened people who meet once a week to discuss major issues of world's intellectual and religious spheres with a special reference to 'religious coexistence'. |
Bab-ul-Ilm Group of Studies (BIGS)BIGS is the Educational Wing of Bab-ul-Ilm Research Foundation. We are currently working in the areas of school and degree classes. We provide quality education in as low fee schedule as possible at lower middle class level. Moreover, we provide free education to the poor and needy children under limited scholarships under 'Deserving' and 'Talent' programs. This particular feature of offering standard education to children from the lower strata of society is sponsored by the BIRF and its donors.
Syed Junaid Afzaal chairs the project of BIGS. The project was launched in early 2010 and it has achieved an unprecedented level of brilliance and success within a decade of its existence. Bab-ul-Ilm Public School (Sohawa) is the most recent project that Bab-ul-Ilm Research Foundation launched under the auspices of BIGS in 2011. The students are thriving in not only in the curricular activities, but also in cultivating creativity and new talents through extracurricular activities.
The confidence of BIRF team in this project is shown from the shining faces of the students. These students come of the age categories from 3 to 15 years. The students of BAB-UL-ILM PUBLIC SCHOOL are being taught on new, scientific lines hitherto unknown in the region. The teaching practice we introduced is based on the method of 'creative learning'. |
Flood Relief Operation
Pakistani people experienced the worst flood of their national history in the year 2010. The Monsoon winds brought with them some 40% extra rain that year as compared to the usual Monsoon activity. This additional rainfall wrought havoc never heard of before and the flood abruptly emerging from all major and minor rivers of Punjab, Khayber PK and Kashmir devastated 45% of Pakistan's territory. BIRF designed a combined relief venture with IDES and ComeNserv, both US-based international humanitarian organizations. Witnessing the magnitude of this catastrophe, BIRF team could not sit silent and the Director General sent personal requests to these two generous organizations. They, in turn, promptly responded to the appeal. The Director General of Bab-ul-Ilm Research Foundation is also an associate member of ComeNserv and is currently working under the designation of "Country Representative" for ComeNserv in Pakistan. He is also an honorary member of IDES. Therefore, after having investigated certain areas in the hard-struck Southern Punjab, we assisted 100 families in the rebuilding of their damaged or destroyed homes in the month of November, 2010. It is the city of "Kot Addu" where these 100 houses were built using the flood-relief-aid donated by IDES and ComeNserv.

Intellectual & Interfaith Summits
Bab-ul-Ilm Research Foundation, Pakistan, is an educational and religious network. The primary goal of BIRF is and will always be to educate the people of Pakistan. It is particularly true in relation to the minorities, i.e. the followers of other religions in order to promote peace and coexistence. In this attempt to meet the desired end, we regularly arrange monthly intellectual summits and invite people associated with different schools of thoughts to attend the intellectual summit. Moreover, there are two 'Interfaith Summits' every year, which remain primarily focused on Islam-Christianity relationship with a particular emphasis upon the inclusion of Christians being the second party of the summit. BIRF has also actively participated in a number of Christian festivities, such as Easter and Christmas, as well as in the moments of grief, such as 2013 Peshawar church blast protest. BIRF condemned the incident in the strongest possible terms.
